Dr. Hyder is delighted to accept the position on the board of YOURS and looks forward to helping empower youth with skills and knowledge on road safety. He strongly supports the global youth movement for road safety in order to reduce the number of lives lost in their communities due to road traffic injuries.

Biography

Adnan A. Hyder MD, PhD, MPH is Senior Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Global Health at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. Dr. Adnan A. Hyder was previously a Professor and Associate Chair at the Department of International Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Director of Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit, a leading center on injury research and training for the developing world and a WHO Collaborating Center for Injuries, Violence and Accident Prevention.

As the director of an innovative injury research unit in a globally acclaimed research university, he leads a team of experts to conduct breakthrough research to reduce injuries in developing countries. Dr. Hyder did his M.D. from the Aga Khan University, Pakistan and obtained his MPH and Ph.D. in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, USA. He serves as a consultant to several international organizations and directs major road safety research projects including the Bloomberg Philanthropies Global Road Safety Project.

Dr. Hyder was a Research Ambassador for the Paul Roger’s Society for Global Health, recipient of the IRTE/Prince Michael Award for Road Safety, and the American Public Health Association-International Health Section Career Award and is the current Chairman of the global Road Traffic Injuries Research Network. He has authored more than 240 papers and world reports on road traffic and child injuries.
