Mission and vision of YASA 2010-2020

MISSION
The mission of YASA Int. is to educate and influence people for the prevention of unintentional injuries and deaths

VISION
“Making our world safer”

By 2020, YASA is targeting to prevent an additional 15,000 deaths and 1 million injuries among Arab countries by helping people live safer lives through leadership, research, education and advocacy.
In the workplace, we will maximize the value employers receive through their investment in safety and help them and their employees take safety home.
YASA recommends that all employers the following eight point checklist for implementation of successful road safety management policy
 

  • Improvement of Driver Recruitment, Selection and Induction
  • Improvement of Driver Supervision, Monitoring, Assessment and Improvement
  • Vehicle Selection, Management and Use
  • Risk assessment
  • Legal compliance
  • Organizational leadership and culture (Setting up of safe driving Committee etc.)
  • Mobility and Journey Management


Since 1997, YASA International has been providing training programs for truck and other professional drivers in more than 10 countries.

The various YASA Training program includes: Traffic signs and road signs, Defensive driving techniques, Loading Patterns, Alcohol and drug abuse prevention and education on Basic First Aid principles and CPR.
According to World Health Organization, the results of crashes on the roads are as follows:
1.3 million people die every year, 85% of all road traffic deaths occur in low and middle income countries.  In the Arab world Around 100,000 / year die (please see Annex1)

If no action is taken road traffic deaths will become the 3rd cause of death by 2020

During the next ten years, YASA International will target the following:
1- The reduction of the excess use of phones while driving.
2- Focus on keeping teens safe in cars.
3- Improvement of driver education in the Arab world.
4- Raise public awareness about dangers related to fatigue and distracted driving.
5- Raise public awareness about vehicle occupant protection.
