WHO ARE WE?

WoGeS is a 100% Liberian organized, owned and register Human Resource Development (HRD) entity established by “Woods General Services” on May 20, 2008 to provide training, consultancy and promote road safety in Liberia.


BACKGROUND


Since the elections in 2005, of Liberia and Africa first female President, Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Country has begun regaining it social and economy growth with investment and reforms in every walks of life. One of the areas which has been alertly fast growing is the usage of Chinese made motorcycle commonly called, Pem-Pem. The name came about because the riders blow it’s horn reckless. Pem-Pem is popular because citizens easily purchase and use it as a main source of transportation. Pem-Pem commercial fare’s are higher than a Taxi Cab.

OUR PRIMARY OBJECTIVES ARE! For VEHICLE OPERATORS/PEDESTRAINS
to:

1.Get trained and licensed
2. Wear protective gears/seat belt/walk safe
3. Drive sober always
4. Drive within their limits
5. Be a lifelong learner
6. Know their responsibilities to other

ROAD USERS OUR VISIONS ARE:
1.To collaborate with the Government of Liberia (GoL) in disseminating and sensitize pedestrians, drivers, Bi and motorcyclist (Road Users) on the safety and road policies of Liberia.
2. To collaborate with local Stakeholders to ensured a national safety training program.
3. To create awareness to seek enabling legislation for GOL funded riders training programs
4. To actively engage Government/MOJ/MOT, Corporate Partners, Veterans Riders, Unions, Vehicle and Motorcycle Dealers, to promote public awareness and Safety
5. To lobby with Stakeholders to set aside the first week of October each Year as “National Road Safety Week” by organizing events and activities to create more

SAFETY AWARENESS OUR OVERALL GOAL

• To establish a professional training program for Pedestrians, Drivers, Bi and Motorcyclist (ROAD USERS) throughout Liberia • To teach road users the basic rules and safety skills in order to safe guard lives and properties, • To promote the positive aspects of motorcycling, particularly touring, entertaining, transporting as a healthy, skilful and adventurous way of travelling, which benefits communities and individuals • To promote the call for a positive motorcycle-based measures rather than discouraging commercial motorcycling; and • To ensure that the motorcycle sector greatly contribute to the National Government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS).
