GARE Associação para a Promoção de uma Cultura de Segurança Rodoviária
GARE is a NGO, and its intervention has been developing in the most stratums and sectors of the population to promote a road safety culture.
In these 6 years of existence, through the development of a set of activities of which we point out:
- several sensitisations acts
- training and pedagogical work with students and teachers at high and primary schools
- information to all kind of public mainly travellers and tourists on the road
- edit support material for all events, seminaries and workshops with specialists on this theme
- organization and participation in panels and forums about road prevention
- management and coordination of gare.pt (Évora tourism and road office).
According to its statutes in force, the mission of the GARE is clearly defined in Article seconds.
Article Two
1. The purposes for which it proposes to GARE are civic and social intervention in the context of a culture of road safety, assuming its implementation based on the following objectives:
a) To promote social change and individual behavior and attitudes in order to reduce the risks inherent in the road environment;
b) Promoting Health;
c) Promoting Active Citizenship and Global and respect for human rights;
d) Promote Sustainable Development;
e) Promote Equal Opportunities and Gender;
f) Promote formal and informal education and training and qualification;
2. In furtherance of its purposes, the GARE can:
a) Promote and deliver anywhere in the country and abroad, any kind of advocacy, debate, information and training as well as projects and interventions of social and community;
b) Develop, produce and distribute informational materials, educational and scientific, participating and promoting studies and research in science and technology;
c) To promote the establishment and management of Road Support Offices, and specific spaces aimed at specific audiences such as children, youth, elderly, tourists, travelers and others;
d) Promote the rights of road users;
e) Promote, support for victims of road accidents and their families, including through the installation and management of facilities to provide health care and promoting well-being;
f) Liaise and sign protocols and agreements with institutions, public, private or other domestic or foreign events which result in benefits for the promotion of road safety culture;
g) Included in the preceding subparagraph GARE the possibility of participating in the capital of companies, provided they pursue objectives that are not incompatible with its objectives, legal and social vocation;
h) Participate in training and qualification of individuals for driving and road traffic in;
i) Promote specific training for the rehabilitation of drivers;
j) Promote the training and development of examiners, instructors, directors of schools of education Driving or other agents and technicians related to the road environment;
l) Participate in the installation and management centers, driving tests for the various categories of vehicles;
m) To promote, conduct or support of cultural events, sporting or artistic in accordance with the above purposes;
n) To foster the spirit of voluntary associations and among the population and public and private entities;
Participate in the discussion and definition of strategies and action policies, while pressure on the group decision-making, the drafting and implementation of national, and international community.
