The winning poster by Matyaš Mašín, 16 from The Czech Republic holds his poster at the EYFRS.

The poster competition organized by DG Move and the European Youth Forum for Road Safety was aimed at young designers to create a unique Europe wide pictoral portrayal of road safety to inspire young people to be safer on Europe's roads.

Posters have always been a strong advocacy tool for road safety and act as one tool to sensitize young people on the importance of a social cause. The competition created a nearly 1000 strong participation from young designers from around Europe. The designing of the posters in the first instance, enabled young people to use their own skills to create something innovative and engaging. With the designing of a road safety poster, young people from around Europe worked with this public safety theme. This allowed young people to first 'get the road safety message' message themselves and then act upon it to share the road safety message with other young people.

Masin's poster depicts one young person crossing the road with two shadows; the shadow of her loved one her was killed on the road. The poster is poignant and thought provoking and Masin presents the stark reality of the loss of life on the road emblazoned with the words ' Safe roads in Europe, Yes we Care'.
