31 August 2010We received lots of videos from young people from all over the world and we now have merged them together to create our awareness video! We would like to thank all participants for showing their commitment to making a change and keeping their peers safe on the road. The jury had a hard time selecting the best video, because there were so many good ones! In the end they selected the participant who contributed with the best video(s), considering the theme ´visibility´ and road safety.

More than 70 youth delegates from over 35 countries were brought together in Brussels to discuss road safety and to strengthen the European Youth Network. YOURS was honored to report on its activities and how the participants could join the road safety efforts made at a global level.

28 June 2010During the night of June 3, two youth-led organizations for road safety joined forces. TeamAlert (The Netherlands) and DUS (Belgium) have located several dangerous intersections in their countries. They marked these dangerous intersections with the use of balloons with the text: `BlackSpot, now focus!´.

23 June 2010, Floor LieshoutMany youngsters from the entire European region will gather on 1 & 2 July in Brussels to participate in the European Youth Forum for Road Safety. They were selected because of their involvement in the road safety field and it will give them the opportunity to join forces to favor road safety among all youngsters and improve the exchange of good practices, experience, trainings and knowledge between Youth NGO’s located in all EU Member States and neighborhood.
The European youth Forum is organized by young people for young people with support from the European Commission.

7 June 2010, Floor LieshoutDuring the Michelin Challenge Bibendum 120 experts participated in 7 Round Table sessions. Round table seven was about the public and private sector commitment and contribution to reducing work-related road traffic fatalities by 2020 and beyond. The session was chaired by Dr Margie Peden (World Health Organization). The main outcome was a roadmap contributing to the Action Plan for the Decade of Action.

12 May 2010, Ousman ContehLast week Mr Aliou Oumarou (Niger), Mr Axl Druart (Belgium) and Mr Ousman Conteh (The Gambia) attended an important road safety conference in Dakar. One of the outcomes of the forum was the importance of promoting networks and consortiums of youth organizations, especially student and road safety professionals in education, to promote road safety. Therefore the youth delegates expressed their desire to mobilize resources to form a strong African youth network in the future. Also they would like to organize an African Youth Forum to discuss their concrete participation to the proclaimed decade of action and beyond.

30 March 2010, Floor LieshoutThe National Youth Parliament and the Gambia Red Cross society signed a memorandum of understanding on Wednesday 17 March to promote road safety. Mr Ousman Conteh, member of the Youth Taskforce of YOURS and working for the National Youth Parliament of the Gambia updated us about this progress. He is leading the partnership between the Youth Paliament and the Red Cross in the Gambia in order to mobilize and inspire young people to take some of the responsibilities on their own shoulders. The partnership objectives are to build capacity, to advocate for young people and ensure resources for road safety projects. Below you can read his story:

24 March 2010, Mahamadou FOFANAOn my return from Moscow, after participating in the Youth Meeting and attending the First Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, I shared our excellent work in Mali. Our association has set up a network of journalists and communicators named Malian Road Safety. This network has been established and even began to raise awareness on road safety among young people.
