The YOURS CORE Group are currently made up of five youth road safety leaders from around the world who act as Coordinators of the Regions (CORE).

They currently represent in 4 regions and work to be closer to young people on the ground, to offer regional support, resources, opportunities and are integral in YOURS' work to develop youth capacities in road safety. You can find out more in the videos and profiles below.

YOURS is proud to announce to establishment of the YOURS CORE Group which bolsters our Global Youth Network for Road Safety through the appointment of Coordinators of the Regions from around the world. The CORE Group will be YOURS' first point of call for their respective regions in will help to expand the network as well as offer specialised support to the regions with regards to road safety issues.

If your region is not represented, this means we are still looking for a Coordinator of the Region. Check out vancies.

The CORE group explain their roles and grouped them into three key areas of focus:

  1. The YOURS Global Youth Network for Road Safety: 'To improve what we currently have'- to expand, share more information about youth and road safety projects and create a thriving quality network.

  2. Coordination and Guidance: 'To improve what we currently do'- of youth and road safety initiatives in every region consisting of coordinating and guiding activities, YOURS capacity development programs and creating regional information hubs on youth and road safety activities.

  3. Advocacy and Promotion – 'To be heard and seen more' – for YOURS to have a known and heard network worldwide and to reach out to the media more frequently.

The Coordinators of the Regions (CORE) were selected via a rigorous recruitment process and we selected the following representatives from an incredibly competitive list of applicants. You can find out more about the CORE Group by clicking on their profiles below.

CORE GROUP

Aliou Oumarou

Position
Coordinator of the African Region (French Speaking Countries)

Aliou Oumarou is a native of Niger in the North West of Africa. He is a fluent speaker of French and will Coordinate the African Region in North West. His is experience in road safety is impressive; he is the President of the Afican Youth Network for Road Safety and was the organizer of the First African Youth Assembly for Road Safety.

Axel Druart

After having worked for Amnesty International, Axel Druart joined Responsible Young Drivers (RYD) where he coordinated actions and volunteers throughout Belgium. In 2004, he created RYD Luxemburg and in 2006, he became director of RYD Netherlands. As well as being the Chairman of TOP-25 planning and implementation activities across all EU Member States, he became the European Project Director of RYD in 2008. He holds a Master’s degree in Communication, with a specialization in Advertising.

Emily Reynolds

Emily Reynolds has been an active campaigner for road safety since 2007 when he elder sister was killed by a distracted driver. She has since championed road safety as a passionate advocate for youth in North America and has been working with the National Organization for Youth Safety (NOYS) in USA for several years. She has bounds of enthusiasm and passion for the cause and represents our network in North America in the CORE Group.

Joel Tucker

Coordinator of the Western Pacific Region

Having worked in road safety in Queensland, Australia for the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (an NGO) for six and-a-half years now, Joel has strong knowledge and experience in relation to road safety issues and in particular those relating to younger road users. Joel was an delegate at the World Youth Assembly for Road Safety and has been active in road safety for many years. His experience in developing road safety networks and work with young people make him a strong Coordinator of the Western Pacific Region.

Sheila Atieno

  Shiela Atieno is a founding member of Youths for Road Safety - Kenya, which is a registered NGO closely working with the youths in Universities, Schools and colleges, likeminded individuals, government and other organizations to tackle the road safety issues. Her experience in road safety is impressive and her personal motivation along with organizational network knowledge makes her a great Coordinator of the African Network (English Speaking Countries).
